Going GREEN Has Never Been Easier!

Dreaming of a Greener World?

We're doing our part to make it a reality.  That's because every HandCrafted Home we offer is ENERGY STAR® ready. That means that when it leaves our facility, it is ready to be installed as an ENERGY STAR® certified home.  These homes must meet guidelines for energy efficiency as set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; that is, they must be at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy saving features that typically make then 20% to 30% more efficient than standard homes.

So, what are some other advantages as a homeowner of going green?

  • Going green can increase your home's value and give you an edge when you're ready to sell
  • Your energy savings add up...fast
  • You can save water, too, with energy efficient plumbing
  • Green homes can be more durable through use of recycled construction materials. You'll improve the quality of the air you breathe which, studies show, can make you more productive
  • A green home's construction creates less material waste
  • A green home helps preserve its surroundings because its built with the land, not against it
  • A green home helps conserve natural resources

And the beauty of energy-efficient home construction is that while it may feel like you somehow make sacrifices, you are not.  In fact, today's green homes are as luxurious as they are eco-friendly. So going green not only helps to conserve resources for future generations, but also helps you to live a better, healthier life today!

SAVING Money & Energy with Energy Star®

Every HandCrafted Home leaving our facility is constructed with the insulation materials, energy-efficient windows, ventilation equipment and appliances that comply with the EPA's ENERGY STAR certification guidelines. According to these guidelines, an ENERGY STAR home must be at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.

Because of the way they're constructed, HandCrafted Homes are more energy efficient than any home constructed on site. Our factory-controlled environment enables us to construct "from the inside out.”" Drywall seams, outlet joints and other openings are sealed airtight before enclosing them in the outer walls, resulting in a home that is both comfortable and energy efficient.

Following are a few of the characteristics of an ENERGY STAR qualified home, features that contribute to improved home quality, increased homeowner comfort, lower energy demand and reduced air pollution:

  • Proper Insulation
Properly installed and inspected insulation in floors, walls, and attics ensure even temperatures throughout the year, reducing energy use and increasing comfort.

  • High-Performance Windows
Energy-efficient windows that utilize protective coatings and improved frames keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Windows of this type also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor furnishings and floor coverings.

  • Tight Construction and Ducts
Holes and cracks in the home's "envelope" or in heating and cooling duct system can lead to drafts, moisture, dust, pollen, and noise. A tightly-sealed home offers improved comfort and air quality while reducing utility and maintenance costs.

  • Energy Efficient Appliances and Products
Lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines... all, when ENERGY STAR certified, contribute to making your home more comfortable and more energy efficient.

  • Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment
Energy efficient HVAC systems are not only less costly to operate, but quieter, too. They reduce indoor humidity and can improve the overall comfort of your home.
